Visualising Renewable Energy in the Landscape of 2050
In its report Energy - the changing climate, the Royal Commission for
Environmental Pollution explored four possible different mixes of renewable
energy technology and demand scenarios for the UK to the year 2050.
Two scenarios S1 and S4 have been used within this presentation to represent the
major choices. In S1 demand is stabilised at 1998 levels with maximum development of
renewable sources and the retention of nuclear power; in S4 there is a 47% reduction of
demand, no nuclear stations and a lower requirement for renewables.
